Through a unique partnership among the Carolinas Credit Union League, the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) and REAL Solutions, credit unions in the Carolinas have the opportunity to train staff to become Certified Credit Union Financial Counselors. The five-month program includes a component that guides credit unions on the best skills counselors can use to help members better manage their finances, in turn growing the credit union and enhancing the bottom line.
What is FiCEP?
FiCEP, CUNA’s Financial Counseling Certification self-study program, enables all credit union staff to become more confident in helping members build a stronger financial future. FiCEP is designed for credit union staff who work in the financial counseling, collections, and loan departments, or any other staff members who are committed to helping members gain control of their financial future.
Modeled after the CUNA Certified Financial Counselor Schools, FiCEP includes two parts of four learning modules each. Each participant who successfully completes the proctored exams for both parts (eight total modules) is granted the Certified Credit Union Financial Counselor (CCUFC) designation and is ready and able to assist your members reach their financial goals.
What does the "enhanced" version include?
In addition to self-study education materials, this program includes nine webinars—an orientation session to kick-off the course, then one webinar per module—two proctored exam sessions, and two in-person training sessions to help participants learn how to use their new skills at work.
The webinars will take place every two weeks, and archived copies will be available for participants who cannot attend the live webinars. Proctored testing sessions will be in conjunction with the face-to-face training sessions.
How much does the program cost?
Cost for each FiCEP student is $900 (includes webinars, self-study materials, onsite training, and exams).
When will the 2018 program take place?
Self-study and webinar session dates begin May 24 with an Orientation Webinar. The eight module webinars and two in-person training events take place from May 29 to October 10. Registration for the 2018 FiCEP program is now open!
