Carolinas Foundation highlights state-level CUNA Awards recipients, upcoming Awards Gala
Thursday, October 18, 2018
Each year, the awards committee of the Carolinas Credit Union Foundation has the difficult task of selecting state-level winners for CUNA’s National Award programs, and this year was no exception.
These awards are designed to encourage and recognize distinguished credit unions which demonstrate social responsibility (the Dora Maxwell Award), the credit union philosophy (the Louise Herring Award), and financial education (the Desjardins Awards). First-place entries will advance to national judging with national winners to be honored at the 2019 CUNA Governmental Affairs Conference in Washington, DC.
“We had some outstanding award submissions this year and are proud to honor each of these credit unions for the dedication to their communities,” noted Lauren Whaley, Carolinas Foundation president. “Congratulations to all of the 2018 winners for their amazing initiatives that enhance financial literacy, increase social responsibility, and demonstrate the practical application of the “people helping people” credit union philosophy.”
The Carolinas Credit Union League and the Foundation will jointly recognize all 2018 winners at the annual Awards Gala held on January 31 during the League's LAUNCH Conference in Charlotte, NC. Along with the state-level winners, the Foundation is still accepting nominations for the 2018 Achievement and Partner in Philanthropy Awards though November 16, 2018. The Awards Gala is expected, once more, to be a sellout event. Tickets can be purchased for $150 per person, which includes entry to LAUNCH.
