Two more chapter finalists in the CUaware Protégé Competition were named this past week! On Tuesday, December 5, Kiah Tyndall was named chapter finalist for the Northwest Chapter. Then on Thursday, December 7, Sara Portis was named Tarheel Chapter finalist. Portis and Tyndall will go on to compete in the 2018 CUaware Protégé Finals Competition in February.

Kiah Tyndall (Winston-Salem FCU) was selected CUaware Protégé for the Northwest Chapter December 5.

Kiah Tyndall works as a financial service representative at Winston-Salem FCU. She has worked at the credit union for three years. Her education includes an paralegal degree from Forsyth Techncial Community College. She is presently studying criminal justice at the University of Phoenix, where she anticipates graduating in 2019.

Tyndall's goal is to become a compliance officer. She has great passion for credit unions given their unique role in improving the lives of their member-owners.

Of the CUaware Protégé  Competition, Tyndall noted in her application that the event is an opportunity for growth and development for all young professionals. "It's not about competing," shared Tyndall. "It's about phenomenal people who are willing, humble, confident and secure enough to know that there is room for all of us to grow and learn within this credit union movement."

Sara Portis (Coastal CU) was selected CUaware Protégé for the Tarheel Chapter December 7.

Sara Portis is the outbound call team operations manager for Coastal CU. She joined Coastal in 2010. She is studying leadership and management and is minoring in marketing at William Peace University, where she will graduate next spring.

Portis's long-term goal is to move into executive management in credit unions while being a respected leader in the community. In addition to her commitment to the credit union, Portis is a board member for Dress for Success Triangle NC Young Professionals. She is also active in her local CUaware Council.

Portis says her ultimate goal in competing is "to furnish me with new doors and the experience gained will provide me with the confidence to knock down those doors, and continue building a better community while spreading the word of our movement."

The last remaining CUaware Protégé Competition is scheduled for January 4, 2018, as the Piedmont Chapter holds its competition in Charlotte. Click here for more information.
