Carolinas Foundation announces 2017 Achievement and Partner Awards recipients

The Carolina Credit Union Foundation’s Awards Committee has selected the winners of the 2017 Individual and Lifetime Achievement Awards. Each of these winners, in addition to the credit unions already announced as 2017 state-level winners, will be recognized at the Foundation’s 2017 Awards Gala scheduled for February 1, 2018 in advance of the Carolinas Credit Union Connect conference.
Lifetime Achievement Award
This award honors individuals who have dedicated their life to promoting the credit union philosophy, created innovative concepts and exhibited leadership that has made a significant and lasting impact in the credit union movement on a local, national, and/or international stage.
Dorinda Edwards, American Partners FCU – Professional Recipient
For her more than 30 years of service to American Partners Credit Union. Under Dorinda’s leadership, the credit union has grown from 2,000 members with $4 million in assets to a full-service $50 million credit union with 8,300 members.
John Radebaugh, Carolinas Credit Union League – Professional Recipient
For his lifelong commitment to the local, national, and global credit union communities. In his 14 years over Carolina credit unions, Radebaugh has maintained one of highest affiliation rates of any league in the country.
Maria Scanga, Latino Community Credit Union – Volunteer Recipient
For her lifelong commitment to the Latino and minority communities and most importantly for dedication to Latino Community Credit union, where she has been a board member consistently since co-founding the credit union in 2000.
The Individual Achievement Award
This honors an individual for his or her innovative concepts and accomplishments in the past three to five years that continue to contribute to the credit union movement.
Cathy Pace, Allegacy FCU – Professional Recipient
For her commitment to the holistic wellbeing of Allegacy’s employees, members and the communities it serves.
“On behalf of the Foundation Board, we congratulate all of the 2017 award recipients for their tireless dedication to the credit union industry,” said Lauren Whaley, Carolinas Foundation president. “We look forward to honoring those among their peers at the Foundation’s Gala in February.”
