Culp will manage and increase the Trust’s profile as it moves into next stages of development

MADISON, WIS. – As the new Manager of The Cooperative Trust, Lauren Culp will lead and empower a growing community of young advocates for credit unions and cooperative finance. As the Trust continues to mature, her energy will be spent facilitating young professionals’ disruption in the cooperative financial industry in a way that invites credit union lovers of all ages to help carry the mission of the movement forward.

“She’s a big thinker and innovator,” said Tansley Stearns, chief impact officer for Filene. “She’s focused on business lending and understands the inside of a credit union; what it’s like to be a part of the Trust; and has a strong passion to keep evolving the Trust to ensure the relevancy of our industry and to make sure credit unions win the war for talent.”

Before joining Filene, Culp was a member of the Trust community, participated in “Crash the GAC” and was an i3 team member.

Culp spent five years at True North Federal Credit Union in Juneau, Alaska. Most recently, Culp worked in business lending focusing on developing community relationships and meeting the needs of small business owners while driving efficiency and accuracy in the back office.

Culp graduated summa cum laude from the University of Alaska Southeast with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and management and received the Bob Ellis Award for Outstanding Graduate in Management.

"The Cooperative Trust is such a unique network with lots of current impact and potential for even more,” Culp said. “Incredible people created and nurtured the Trust, and I'm thrilled to focus my time and energy on maturing the program even further. Crashing the GAC with the Trust sparked that "Aha!" moment for me in terms of building a career in the credit union industry, so it's an incredible opportunity and honor to give other young credit union professionals the same experience.”

Culp’s responsibilities as manager of The Cooperative Trust formally began July 10. James Marshall, who previously held this role, will continue at Filene in an impact role and assist through the Trust’s leadership transition.

Filene is now accepting applications for positions as Impact Director and Information Communications Technology Manager. Those interested in joining a team of passionate thinkers and doers who work hard to change people's lives through ideas, truth and cooperation, should apply at
