The Northeast Chapter of Credit Unions continued its process of rebirth in January, electing officers and setting a meeting schedule for 2020. The board elections took place January 16 in Rocky Mount immediately following a chapter meeting.
Three officers were nominated from the floor and elected. They will oversee chapter operations, as well as schedule meetings and events. The officers include Candace Roberts, Coastal CU (President); Shane Lancaster, Coastal CU (Vice President); and Josh Collier, State Employees' CU (Secretary/Treasurer).
Inactive for several years, the chapter took initial steps toward reorganizing in 2019. A meeting in May to discuss the possibility of resuming a meeting schedule was well-received, which led to a formal chapter meeting in September. The September event drew nearly 50 people. The January event also drew a similar number of people, and featured Matthew Martin, regional executive of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond.
The Northeast Chapter includes a wide geographic footprint that extends east of Interstate 95 and north of US Highway 70. It includes Rocky Mount-Wilson, Greenville, New Bern and Elizabeth City.
The chapter will hold quarterly meetings for the foreseeable future. Meetings are scheduled for April 23, July 23 and October 22.
Registered users of the CCUL web site may also wish to join the Northeast Chapter group. Each chapter has its own group on the CCUL web site.
