Application window opens for Carolinas Foundation’s small credit union grants
Wednesday, October 2, 2019
The application window is now open for the Carolinas Credit Union Foundation’s Professional Development Grant Program. This program, provided in partnership with Summit Credit Union, provides grants to small credit unions ($50 million or less in assets) for use towards development and training for credit union staff and volunteers.
Small credit unions interested in applying for a grant should download and email the completed application to Lauren Whaley by December 13, 2019.
The financial support of Summit and the Elizabeth N. and James V. Hamilton Fund is what makes this program possible. Last year, it was announced that $100,000 had been reserved for this program with $20,000 to be disbursed annually for the next few years. To date, 21 education grants have been awarded.
“Sis Hamilton was an innovator in supporting the unique legacy found in small credit unions,” said Sam Whitehurst, president/CEO of Summit CU. “Sis and Jim wanted to help meet the educational and training needs of the staff and volunteers of small credit unions as part of their unique legacy. Summit Credit Union is proud to support this effort in their memory.”
The Foundation’s Professional Development Grant Committee will determine credit union winners by early 2020.
