On Tuesday, September 3, the senior management team at SAFE FCU met with U.S. Congressman Ralph Norman (R-SC5) at their administrative headquarters in Sumter, SC.
Representatives from SAFE spoke to Rep. Norman on an array of topics including data breaches, HMDA, CECL, and the need for ongoing regulatory relief.
Rep. Norman spoke on the climate in Washington, DC, and his background in banking and business. With his experience, Norman stated his desire to be appointed to the House Financial Services Committee. He then took questions from the group and closed by emphasizing the need to stay politically involved, and encouraged all to stay in contact with his office on issues important to credit unions.
“With more families than ever benefiting from credit union membership, this is an important time for SAFE and our sister credit unions,” said SAFE President/CEO Darrell Merkel. “We appreciated Rep. Norman’s observations and look forward to working with him on ways we can further help our members.”
