The panel of Pastor, Purvis and Smith holds nearly a century of combined experience in the credit union movement. The wide-ranging panel discussion reflected on their personal and professional journeys in credit unions, as well as notable issues facing credit unions today and in the future.
Following personal introductions, Schline facilitated the discussion around the core principles and philosophies of credit unions, and how those principles guided operations at each of their credit unions. The group also shared their thoughts about current topics including diversity and inclusion and the public's lack of awareness of the credit union brand. The brand discussion provided an opportunity to share updates about the recently-launched Open Your Eyes Campaign.
The Tarheel Chapter held the event in the Research Triangle Park, recruiting CUNA Mutual Group and CU Direct as sponsors. The chapter also hosted a silent auction to raise funds for future programming, including the Cookies for a Cause event. Held around the holidays, Cookies for a Cause raises funds for the Children's Home Society of NC.
