Columbia, S.C. and Raleigh, N.C.—The Carolinas Credit Union League, the trade association serving credit unions in North and South Carolina, is celebrating throughout 2019 the fifth anniversary of its founding upon consolidation of the respective state’s leagues on January 1, 2014.

The dual-state League recognizes its integral role in the credit union movement, serving as the Carolinas’ “Strongest Advocate and A Whole Lot More.” Since its formation, the association continues to evolve with credit union needs and boasts a 94% credit union affiliation rate, engaging thousands of credit union employees in opportunities for employee education, advocacy, peer networking, and operations/product solutions.

CCUL has made notable achievements and overcome unexpected obstacles in its first five years.

“The environment for credit unions and leagues is ever-changing,” shared Dan Schline, president and CEO of CCUL. “We’re constantly evaluating how we can best serve credit unions in the Carolinas and meet their changing needs. Every once in a while, it’s nice to stop and appreciate what we’ve accomplished together – that’s what this celebration is all about. I’m proud of all the hard work our team has put in and grateful for the strong leadership from the League Board.”

To commemorate the anniversary, CCUL has released a celebratory logo to be used throughout the year in conjunction with the standard company logo. The League also is finalizing a community service initiative that will engage staff throughout the year while embodying the credit union philosophy of “people helping people.” More on this project will be announced soon.

About the Carolinas Credit Union League

Established in 2014, the not-for-profit Carolinas Credit Union League unites the former leagues of North Carolina and South Carolina, each begun in 1934 by leaders committed to the cooperative spirit and the common goal of credit union growth. The Carolinas Credit Union League is at its core the primary advocate for credit unions, focusing members' collective political voice. Yet it is much more than a strong advocate, helping promote credit union success through regulatory compliance support, product enhancement, service delivery, and employee education.
