Participants at the Management Association of Carolinas Credit Unions’ 2018 Fall Conference last week were treated to a surprise visit from State Representative Susan Fisher (D-Buncombe), who presented a proclamation from Governor Roy Cooper.
The proclamation, signed Thursday, October 4, declares Oct. 18 as International Credit Union Day in North Carolina. Rep. Fisher expressed her pleasure to present the proclamation in her home district on the governor’s behalf because she knows and appreciates credit unions’ contributions to communities across North Carolina and around the world. Rep. Fisher pointed out that even through the recession when banks were failing, credit unions have always been there to serve consumers.

Credit union professionals and members around the globe will be celebrating #ICUDay on Oct. 18. Every year, the World Council of Credit Unions designates a theme for the occasion, and this year’s theme is “Find Your Platinum Lining,” which recognizes the 70 years of ICU Day.
