Editor's Note: On May 15, 2018, CUNA received word that the U.S. House intends to vote on the Economic Growth, Regulatory Relief and Consumer Protection Act (S. 2155) as early as Tuesday, May 22.
Credit Union National Association President/CEO Jim Nussle and Carolinas Credit Union League President/CEO John Radebaugh are urging credit union advocates to make their voices heard on bipartisan legislation S.2155 – the Economic Growth, Regulatory Relief, and Consumer Protection Act. Weeks after CUNA and the Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA) wrote to House leadership urging passage of the bill, several House leaders signaled toward a May vote at the Milken Institute 21st Global Conference in Beverly Hills, California.
S.2155 is bipartisan, common-sense reform legislation that seeks to:
- Protect seniors from elder financial abuse;
- Make mortgage processing easier and quicker;
- Increase affordable rental housing in our communities; and
- Help credit unions provide better service to their members.
See the full text of the bill here.
In support of CUNA's Campaign for Common-Sense Regulation, the League has activated its action alert for the S.2155 bill and is encouraging credit unions to voice their support for this legislation reform.
