On Tuesday, the South Carolina Senate unanimously passed S. 337 which updates the SC Credit Union Act.

The bill now heads to the House where it will need to go through a subcommittee, full committee and finally a vote on the entire house floor.

The date of the House subcommittee hearing has not been announced yet, but the Carolinas Credit Union League will provide an update once available.

“Getting this bill through the Senate was a team effort from the League, credit unions and lawmakers," said Billy Boylston, VP of governmental affairs for the League. "While there are many to thank, I want to recognize our bill sponsor and credit union warrior, Tom Davis (R-Beaufort). Without his leadership and tenacity to fight against strong banker opposition this bill would not have made it through the Senate. There is still much work ahead but we look forward to working with our friends in the house to see this over the finish line.”
