The Carolinas boast five young CU pros in Crash the GAC
Monday, January 22, 2018
Columbia, SC and Raleigh, NC – The Carolinas Credit Union League is pleased to announce that not two but five Carolinas credit union professionals have been selected to attend Crash the GAC 2018 by The Cooperative Trust and Credit Union National Association (CUNA).
Crash the GAC is a career-changing program for credit union young professionals that allows them to experience CUNA’s Governmental Affairs Conference in a dynamic way with exclusive networking opportunities and mentoring sessions with industry leaders. Crashers were selected based on their 60-second videos on why they are great candidates to Crash the GAC.
Congratulations to our five Crashers:
- Davis Emery, Experience Center Representative, Local Government FCU, North Carolina
- Dustin Haynes, Public Relations Officer, Heritage Trust FCU, South Carolina
- Sara Portis, Outbound Call Team Operations Manager, Coastal Credit Union, North Carolina
- Eric Spitler, Experience Center Representative, Local Government FCU, North Carolina
- Alexandra Teper, Card Services Specialist, Carolina Foothills FCU, South Carolina
This is the first time the Carolinas will have five Crashers attending the GAC, thanks in large part to The Cooperative Trust’s new “Pay it Forward – Guaranteed Crasher” program, in which a credit union may purchase a Crasher spot (cost of GAC registration) if it donates another registration fee for a “Wildcard” crasher to attend. The program funded an additional 26 young professionals, bringing the total to 78 Crashers representing all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
“We’re incredibly thrilled to have such outstanding representation from the Carolinas at Crash the GAC this year,” League President and CEO John Radebaugh said of the five. “The CUNA GAC is a unique and powerful experience, and the Crasher program is an excellent way to get young professionals plugged in to the national conversations around credit union advocacy.”
CUNA provides Crashers selected outside of the “Pay it Forward” program complimentary conference registrations. Additionally, many state leagues and associations provide scholarships or other financial assistance.
In previous years, the Carolinas Credit Union League awarded a $1,000 scholarship to one representative from each state. For this year’s larger contingent, the League will award $1,000 per credit union to support travel expenses.
