Credit unions from NC (left) and SC (right) joined together last October for the 13th annual Carolinas Cup.

On October 22-24, 2017, representatives from North and South Carolina credit unions teed off at the Ballantyne Resort in Charlotte, NC for a friendly competition and to support a good cause. Hosted by CUNA Mutual Group, the competition and fundraising dinner benefits the Carolinas Credit Union Foundation’s Reach Program, an exclusive partnership with Victory Junction.

The NC team, led by Captain Todd Hall of Truliant FCU took home the trophy, ending SC's three-year winning streak.

Thanks to players, sponsors, and auction contributors over $52,000 was raised, making this one of the most successful events in its history! In addition to benefiting the Reach Program, a $5,000 donation will go to Purple Heart Homes, a charity that provides housing solutions for disabled veterans.

“Because of the commitment from the credit union industry in the Carolinas, the Foundation is able to exclusively support the remarkable Reach Program that brings a fun and uplifting experience to children and families in communities across the Carolinas!” said Carolinas Foundation President Lauren Whaley in an email to sponsors and participants.

The Reach Program brings specialized camp-style programming to children and families year-round at hospitals and Ronald McDonald Houses all across the Carolinas. Since 2015, the Reach program has touched the lives of more than 15,000 children in every corner of the Carolinas.

Photos of the Carolinas Cup experience are now available on the Foundation’s Facebook page. The 2018 Carolinas Cup will be October 14-16—save the date!
