The Tuesday, August 1 groundbreaking for Mid Carolina Credit Union’s newest location in Lugoff, SC had a resounding message of excitement for future growth rooted in the credit union’s commitment to serve the community. The two-story, 12,000-square-foot main office will be centrally located to serve members from Kershaw and Richland counties.

The ceremony brought credit union employees, members of their Board of Directors, League representatives, and dignitaries like SC Representative Laurie Slade Funderburk (52-Kershaw) together to celebrate.

"When I think about Mid Carolina Credit Union, I think about how much they've invested in our futures and our lives as individuals," said Funderburk. She credited her loyal membership and support to her grandfather who was one of the first members to join the credit union, formerly known as May Plant Credit Union.

MCCU President/CEO Scott Conley expressed how this project is part of their commitment to live the credit union difference.

"Unlike a large bank that is driven by profits for shareholders, Mid Carolina Credit Union is a financial cooperative that is owned by its members, so we are committed to improving their financial position," said Conley. "Whether it’s through money-saving products, services, infrastructure, or corporate responsibility, everything Mid Carolina Credit Union does is for the positive impact of its members and community."

The expansion is expected to be completed summer 2018.
