Election filings close for June 12 primary; all seats are contested

It’s hard to believe, but elections are here again. Filing for the Tuesday, June 12, 2018 primary election closed at noon on March 30.

This election includes races from Governor to county council, but not in the SC Senatethat four-year cycle ends in 2020.

There are many contested races—including the Governor’s race—and all congressional seats are contested, either in the primary or general election. There are nineteen candidates vying for the 4th district seat, which Trey Gowdy will vacate upon retirement.
