Lobbying efforts continue for S. 337 despite large focus on public utility
Just as the roads bill garnered all the lawmakers' attention last session, this year the focus is on the failed V.C. Summer Nuclear Station and the possible sale of SCANA to Virginia-based utility Dominion Energy.

While this is the big issue of the session, the League continues to push for S. 337, which updates and modernizes the SC Credit Union Act. We are continuing our lobbying efforts to receive another subcommittee hearing, and will share details including bill progress as those are clarified.

Individuals and credit unions not already involved can do so by visiting MySCCreditUnion.com and using the pre-populated email template to request support from SC senators. Keep up to date with bill progress by "liking" My SC Credit Union on Facebook and following on Twitter.

Rep. Gowdy's retirement announcement prompts several potential candidacies

Potential candidates are scurrying to announce their intent to run after U.S. Representative Trey Gowdy (R-SC4) announced that he wouldn't seek re-election and would return to law. While he's giving up a committee chairmanship, insiders say he may end up with a seat on the federal bench soon.
