With more than fifty years of collective experience in the accounting industry, the corporate accounting team oversees financials of the Carolinas Credit Union League (CCUL) and its affiliates such as Professional League Resources (PLR), the Carolinas Credit Union Foundation (CCUF), Advanced Fraud Solutions (AFS), Carolina Credit Union Services (CCUS), Palmetto Cooperative Services, LLC, and PCSimages.

The team is led by Mary Gardner, chief financial officer for CCUL. As CFO, she manages corporate accounting, human resources, and the credit union accounting departments.

Mary is a graduate of Winthrop University and her background includes nearly twenty years in the insurance industry, in which she held various positions in finance before joining the league in 2005. She is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the state of South Carolina and was recently appointed to the executive committee of the CUNA CFO Council.

Mary is very active in her church, serving in many roles including the most “interesting” task of teaching religious education to eighth-grade girls for the past eight years. She also is a reluctant runner and member of a team exercise group.

Having joined the league in 2006, Dianne Byrdic serves as corporate accounting manager. She has twenty-two years of accounting experience and an associate degree in accounting. Her previous accounting experience includes write-ups with a CPA firm and working as assistant controller with a Kenworth truck dealership.

On a personal note, Diane has a daughter who became a mother this past year and a son studying to become a licensed insurance agent. She serves as president of SC Epworth Children’s Home Alumni Board and helped to launch its annual “Cook Out for Kids” fundraiser.

Rodney Suber also is a corporate accounting manager, having joined the team in 2006. Prior to that he served as research adjuster with Palmetto Cooperative Services, Inc. (PCS, LLC). As member of the league team, Rodney provides financial and management accounting for several of the league’s subsidiary companies.

Rodney holds an associate degree in accounting from Midlands Technical College and bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting from Strayer University.

Corporate Accounting Specialist Cathy Garner has been with the league for more than three years. Her primary duties include providing financials each month for AFS and CCUS. Cathy has more than twenty-five years of experience in accounting and previously served as office manager for ten-plus years at a local auto body shop. During that time she went back to school, earning her associate degree from Midlands Technical College.

Married for nearly thirty years, Cathy and her husband, Danny, live in Chapin, SC and have three daughters and three grandchildren. In her free time, Cathy enjoys boating on Lake Murray, reading, and walking her two-year old Shih Tzu mix, Sophey.

Tina Morley has been with the league since 2011. As accounting associate, her duties include accounts payable, receivables, billing, and communication with all PCS, LLC and PCSi customers. Tina has an associate degree in accounting and has been in the accounting field for thirty-five years.

She is a proud mother to her daughter, Jessi, and son-in-law, Braden, who live in Greenville, SC where Jessi owns a photography business and Braden works as an industrial engineer for Michelin.

Emerald Washington joined the league in 2013 as accounting specialist. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business management and finance. During her career she has served as an assistant controller for a major hotel chain and a large non-profit organization in Washington, DC. Her goal at the league is to assist management in streamlining the billing process and procedures to improve productivity and customer satisfaction.
