The Carolinas Credit Union League Human Resources (HR) Department provides HR support to more than 160 employees in more than a half-dozen companies, including the Carolinas Credit Union League (CCUL), Palmetto Cooperative Services, LLC (PCS), First Carolina Corporate Credit Union (FCCCU), and Advanced Fraud Solutions (AFS).  Our HR team includes VP of Human Resources Susanne Witteborg, Human Resources Manager Andrea Williams, and Human Resources Specialist Mandy McCarter.

Susanne Witteborg has been with the league since 2004, starting as director of human resources for the association and PCS, LLC.  Prior to joining the league, she served as director of human resources for Carolina Children’s Home, a group foster-care home in Columbia, SC with more than 200 employees.

"For CCUL and our affiliated companies, our most important asset—if not our only asset—is our people,” said Witteborg. “I feel like it’s my job to make sure this valuable resource is well managed—from sourcing the right people for the job, to facilitating the performance management process, compensation and benefits management, to planning staff events. We simply have nothing to offer without our most important resources—our people."

Susanne is a graduate of the University of South Carolina and earned her Professional in Human Resources (PHR) designation in 2000. She and her husband Larry live in Lexington with their two extremely neurotic dogs and have one son, Eric, and two grandsons.

Working alongside Susanne in the South Carolina office is Mandy McCarter who joined the league in 2011. She serves as the primary HR contact for PCS employees. Her responsibilities range from conducting/screening interviews to processing benefits and payroll. Like Susanne, Mandy also worked at Carolina Children’s Home and brings more than fourteen years of experience in payroll, benefits, and HR support to the league.

“I find it very rewarding to be able to help people and working in HR gives me the opportunity to do that,” says McCarter.

Mandy and her husband Johnny live in Columbia with their nearly 3-year-old daughter, Brooklyn.

Based in Kernersville, N.C., Andrea Williams is responsible for processing payroll, administering benefits, and recruiting talent for the CCUL, FCCCU, Carolina Credit Union Services, and AFS.

Her career in the credit union movement began in 1997 with First Carolina, where she worked as an accounting analyst. From there, she transitioned to the league and into Human Resources.

Andrea has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance from North Carolina A&T State University and earned her PHR designation from the HR Certification Institute.

“However, my proudest accomplishment and most fulfilling role is being the mother to two amazing children,” Williams remarks. “They are what motivate me the most and constantly teach me about love, life, and happiness.”

Together with the CCUL Professional Development team, Human Resources plans to host a combined HR & Professional Development Conference for credit union professionals October 23-24 in Myrtle Beach, SC.
