Jan. 17: Free webinar on digital accessibility, ADA compliance best practices
Wednesday, December 6, 2017
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) prevents discrimination by making it illegal for businesses to provide goods and services without also ensuring their accessibility by disabled persons. Title III of the ADA addresses "public accommodations" including services provided via website.
Formal rules from the Department of Justice (DOJ) on website accessibility are expected no earlier than 2018, however, in 2006 litigants and the DOJ began attempts to enforce the ADA against businesses. With threats of legal action on the rise nationwide and in the Carolinas, it’s important your credit union understands the ADA relative to website accessibility and act accordingly.
The following 90-minute webinar, presented by TransCen, Inc. and the Mid-Atlantic ADA Center, will help you learn more about digital accessibility basics and the tools you need to make changes to your website in 2018.
Additional resources on ADA Website Accessibility Compliance are available on the League’s website here or from the main menu under “Compliance --> News & Resources --> Risk Resources.”
