Carolinas Foundation Board welcomes Ciuffo, Whitehurst, Brehmer and DeDonato
Wednesday, August 2, 2017
The Carolinas Credit Union Foundation has filled three open seats on its Board of Directors. At its recent July Board meeting held at the Petty Race Garage and Museum, Bonnie Ciuffo from SC Federal Credit Union was appointed for a three-year term. Ciuffo joins the newest members, Sam Whitehurst, CEO of Summit Credit Union and David Brehmer, president of Vizo Financial, both nominated at the April meeting.
Ciuffo joined SC Federal in 1994 and currently serves as president of South Carolina Financial Solutions, LLC where she leads a team of executive directors for various product lines to include investments, insurance, benefits, and indirect lending. Committed to the local community, Ciuffo was instrumental in the creation of the South Carolina Federal Credit Union Foundation. She served as its chairman for three years and now serves as the treasurer.
Also new to the Foundation leadership is Frankie DeDonato with PFP Services. Frankie has been tasked with chairing the Ambassador Council of the Carolinas Credit Union Foundation. The Carolinas Credit Union Foundation has created a volunteer Ambassador Council to help us spread the word about the Foundation’s benefits and what they are doing locally in the credit union communities of the Carolinas to enrich the lives of children.
“We know that word of mouth is often the best way to communicate, and we are seeking new members to help expand the voice of the Carolinas Credit Union Foundation,” commented Foundation President Lauren Whaley. “Ambassador Council volunteers will share information with their credit union peers about the Foundation and offer feedback directly back to the Foundation Board on new opportunities. Interested applicants should be engaged credit union and business partner professionals who may have volunteered with the Foundation in their community, used the services of the Foundation or simply have a passion for enlightening credit unions about the “people helping people” philosophy. These volunteers will play a crucial role in our success and will be integral in the continued growth of the Carolinas Credit Union Foundation.”
Ciuffo, Whitehurst, and Brehmer will fill the last remaining seats and join an esteemed group of individuals already on the Foundation’s Board of Directors.
Additional Board members include:
- Brian Sponaugle (Chair), Greenville FCU
- Mark Caverly (Vice-Chair), Local Government FCU
- Bob Bruns (Treasurer), Charlotte Metro FCU
- Willard Ross (Secretary), Coastal CU
- John Slack (Immediate Past-Chair), CUNA Mutual
- Mark Curran, Lion’s Share FCU
- Jennifer Parker, Founders FCU
- Judy Tharp, Piedmont Advantage CU
- John Radebaugh (Ex-Officio/non-voting), Carolinas Credit Union League
“We welcome each of these individuals to the Foundation’s Board of Directors and Ambassador Council and know they will add a great perspective given their rich histories in the credit union movement,” said Foundation Board Chairman Brian Sponaugle.
Any applicant interested in serving on the Foundation’s Ambassador Council may email Lauren Whaley at email@example.com or Frankie DeDonato at firstname.lastname@example.org.
