Thanks to the generosity of credit unions and business partners, the Carolinas Credit Union Foundation hosted a very successful silent auction and raffle during the Carolinas Credit Union League’s 2017 Annual Meeting. Hosted during the exhibit hall June 4-5, attendees bid on more than 40 donated items. In addition, a 4-night vacation raffle at a beachfront cottage in Oak Island (donated by the Cooperative Council of NC) heighted the fundraising activities.
"What tremendous support the credit union industry showed at this year's auction," shared Lauren Whaley, Carolinas Foundation president. "We raised a little more than $8,000 to help support our exclusive sponsorship of Victory Junction's Reach Program."
The Carolinas Foundation also hosted a Cast and Blast fundraiser prior to the start of the Annual Meeting at a picturesque hunting preserve called the King Fisher Society. Sponsors included the League, CUNA Mutual Group and Coastal Credit Union. Proceeds from that event will be directed to the Carolinas Foundation's college scholarship program.
"The Cast and Blast attendees had a fantastic outdoor experience at a world-class facility,” commented Whaley. “With the overwhelming response, we are looking at dates in 2018 for another event.”
The Carolinas Foundation's next fundraiser will be the Carolinas Cup organized by CUNA Mutual Group at the Ballantyne Golf Resort on October 22-24, 2017 in Charlotte, NC. Registration is due to open in July.
