Application window opens for Carolinas Foundation 2017-18 scholarship program

The Carolinas Credit Union Foundation’s Scholar Vision Fund has just launched its 2017-2018 scholarship program for credit union members seeking a higher level of education. New this year, applicants will be able to apply online for scholarship assistance. In order to qualify and apply, the applicant must be a member of a North or South Carolina credit union. Scholarships are awarded based on academic performance, community leadership and financial need.
“I encourage credit unions in the Carolinas to promote and distribute the Foundation’s scholarship application to its members,” notes Lauren Whaley, Carolinas Foundation president. “The Foundation is guided by its mission to enrich the lives of children in the Carolinas and we want to ensure that all credit unions can help local students achieve their educational dreams.”
The Carolinas Credit Union Foundation General Fund Scholarship is one of several under the Scholar Vision Fund, which is a collection of funds and resources managed by the Carolinas Credit Union Foundation and Vizo Financial. This past year, more than $200,000 in scholarships were awarded through the Scholar Vision Fund to credit union members in the Carolinas attending a 4-year university or technical college.

- Local Government Federal Credit Union Scholarship Fund
- Members Credit Union’s Betty Stevenson Scholarship Fund
- Members Credit Union General Scholarship Fund
- Piedmont Advantage Credit Union's Members Come First Scholarship Fund
- Summit Credit Union’s Elizabeth Hamilton Scholarship Fund
- Truliant Federal Credit Union’s Fred Sarda Scholarship Fund
The new online application for 2017-2018 school year can be accessed through this secure online application portal or credit union members may download this 2017 Scholarship Application form that can be mailed once completed or delivered to their local credit union.
March 31, 2017 – Application process closes
Early-June 2017 – Winners notified via email
June 30, 2017 – All winners confirmed through the secure online portal
July 2017– Checks are processed and distributed to attending schools
