Established in 2014, the not-for-profit Carolinas Credit Union League unites the former leagues of North Carolina and South Carolina, each begun in 1934 by leaders committed to the cooperative spirit and the common goal of credit union growth.

The Carolinas Credit Union League is at its core the primary advocate for credit unions, focusing members' collective political voice. Yet it is much more than a strong advocate, helping promote credit union success through regulatory compliance support, product enhancement, service delivery, and employee education.

National Affiliations

Membership in the Carolinas Credit Union League affords credit unions a complete spectrum of services through the Credit Union National Association and its affiliates. CUNA is the national instrument of credit union leagues and represents more than 90 percent of credit unions. CUNA Mutual Group markets insurance coverage and related services exclusively for credit unions.

Credit unions also sponsor and support the worldwide expansion of the credit union movement and its ideals. The World Council of Credit Unions is the vehicle for this expansion.

The National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), an independent federal agency, supervises and insures federal- and state-chartered credit unions. The NCUA is funded by credit unions and receives no tax dollars.

Related Associations

Credit unions in North Carolina and South Carolina also are part of twelve regional chapters, each an autonomous, subdivision of the league. Chapter membership aids credit unions in the advancement of credit unions' purpose through local and regional means.

The new Management Association of Carolinas Credit Unions (MACCU) is a self-governing membership of credit union professionals. It exists to provide effective and continuous development in the field of credit union management through seminars designed with the professional in mind. Join MACCU here.
